When I was a kid, I was never worried about whether my life style aided growth. When in doubt,I usually measured my height and on further doubt I checked my grades for improvement. These two indicators clearly helped me conclude that I have grown. However, after graduation these markers didn’t prove very useful. I was not growing taller and realized grades didn’t matter in my workplace. I put my best efforts into my job, but was still puzzled by the question of how to measure my growth. Should I start measuring financial growth and stop measuring my intellectual growth? And even in the case of financial growth what would be the deciding factor?Would it be the salary hike,my appraisal ratings or my job satisfaction?

I always felt it was never enough a measure. So I ventured outside work and tried to add some skills to my personality. I trained in martial arts and spent my leisure time reading books trying to widen my knowledge base.Yet,when I questioned whether I have utilized my full potential ,the answer was clearly negative. No sooner,I began longing for that one moment to feel completely satisfied that I have grown. This longing intensified until at a point I realized that the feeling of complete satisfaction was never going to arrive. Infact the longing itself was the growth, and what I need to do was to keep the longing alive.

There is no limit to growing and I think it is possible to grow throughout our lives until the moment we die. Whether growth is intellectual, emotional ,physical or financial the core thing that matters is that,it should be intrinsic. There is no single indicator to measure growth and the possibilities are infinite. Imagine human as a tree with infinite branches and the key is to nourish every single branch. When your not reading a book you can always practice dancing. And when you are not dancing ,you can always work hard and earn money. The unequal  recognition given to various sectors are only external and hence intrinsic growth means that consistent ,one hundred percent of yourself to every single branch. A moment without growth is a moment we die.Intrinsic  growth is not only essential but it is also the raison d'etre of our very life.
